apologies in advance if i ask stupid questions - this is my first foray into virtualization!
given that apple no longer make any expandable hardware on which to run os x server, i need to look at vitualizing it.
current setup is intel xserve running 10.7.latest server, connected via Atto R680 card to La Cie big12 serial RAID array. i am assuming that as client owns apple hardware, virtualising the os is within the spirit of the licensing, if not the letter.
Questions:
can i vitualize the os?
what box will be best? i assume that ssd's are best for speed, and lots of ram?
will vsphere (if this is indeed the right product) see the atto card and thus give the guest os access to the storage
any other issues that i should be aware of?
